Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) was brought to light in an interview with MSNBC’s Peter Alexander where Waters tried to justify her opposition towards former FBI director James Comey.
Reportedly, Alexander questioned Waters on why she changed her viewpoint. It was in January, when Water had said that Comey had “no credibility,” however, when Comey was fired, Waters changed her tune and went on to condemn President Trump’s action for terminating Comey. Waters was noted saying, the president didn’t pass the “smell test.”
During her interview, Waters attempted to explain as to why Comey had suddenly become a competent director in her eyes, who should be trusted with the Russian investigation. However, Alexander continued to quiz her motives for changing her mind and asked if Waters would support the president’s decision, if the president was Hillary Clinton.
“If Hillary Clinton had won the White House, would you have recommended that she fire FBI director James Comey?” Alexander asked.
“Let me tell you something. If she had won the White House, I believe that given what [Comey] did to her, and what he tried to do, she should have fired him, yes,” Waters responded.
The reporter then pointed out the very obvious discrepancy, by saying that Clinton firing Comey would have been justified, however, Trump’s action is not.
Waters has also been reported to argue that President Donald Trump should be impeached and went on to suggest that he could be in fact charged with “obstruction of justice” after he admitted that he thought about Russia when making the decision of firing former FBI Director James Comey.
“This president needs to be impeached! I believe that,” Waters said.
Although, we all are very well aware that Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters has been very eager to impeach President Trump, from the first day, but this interview just served as a cherry on top.
